Paris, September 9, 2008 - Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext: Paris and NYSE: ALU) and InfoExpress announced today that Iona College in New Rochelle, New York, has selected InfoExpress CyberGatekeeper to protect the college wireless network, provided by Alcatel-Lucent, from the risks associated with rogues or badly configured computers. With the InfoExpress appliance-based host integrity solution, Iona College can manage network access and define remediation actions for an unlimited range of requirements for PCs and laptops owned by the more than 1,000 students accessing the college's wireless network. "The CyberGatekeeper made the first day of school a pleasure. We cut nearly four hours out of our typical first day as the CyberGatekeeper simplified access and allowed the students to do the majority of the install and registration for network access themselves, while we provided support staff," said Joanne Steele, vice provost Info Technology/CIO at Iona College. "In the past we've needed to provide more technical support and oversee each install which lead to long days." InfoExpress partner Alcatel-Lucent sold the CyberGatekeeper solution to Iona College and is providing support. "More than that, CyberGatekeeper provides a one-stop host integrity check that will allow access to the college wireless network only when the student's computer meets a set of security policies that we establish and manage centrally and upload to the CyberGatekeeper appliance." The InfoExpress CyberGatekeeper family of products control access to the network by auditing all devices before granting access to the network. The solution is fully scalable and interoperates smoothly with a wide range of other products. The CyberGatekeeper appliance can easily be deployed in monitor mode giving organizations the option to remediate endpoints "on the fly" without having to restrict access to users. The option is particularly important for organizations like colleges who on the first day of school deal with a lot of endpoints hitting the network for the first time. CyberGatekeeper will provide Iona College with a deep level of inspection from an enterprise-class host integrity solution that is easy to use and manage. In addition to the benefits to Iona College and its IT team, the solution will help promote a positive user experience, according to Halaris. If virus patterns or software is out of date, built-in remediation features in CyberGatekeeper can automatically restore the computer to a compliant state, enabling the student to access the wireless network.
